#wordyThursday >> Obligation
ob·li·ga·tion
ˌ/äbləˈɡāSH(ə)n/
noun. An act or course of action to which a person is morally or legally bound; a duty or commitment.
How does it make you feel when you consider the word obligation?
For me, the word obligation feels tight and constricted. I never like to use the word obligation when referring to something that I want to do.
Do you have an obligation to take care of yourself or your family, or do you desire to?
Do you have an obligation to show up for work each morning, or do you desire to?
Do you have an obligation to be the perfect wife or girlfriend or friend or daughter? Or do you really desire to show up as your best and be totally and completely accepted, with flaws and all?
See, there's a difference between feeling an obligation to be, do or have something and having the desire to choose it.
Considering the way you want to feel, which do you choose to move forward with?
Obligation or desire?
